Genesis Banking & Finance are currently looking for an ACA / CFA qualified finance professional to join one of the most prestigious global investment banks, as a Product Controller (acting as a “mini-CFO” for a desk). Job description:

The Product controllers’ group is the biggest Controllers department within the bank and fundamentally supports the Fixed Income, Currencies, Commodities and Equities trading desks. This role is very technical, providing a great challenge and you would be offered continuous training from the team and senior management.

 

Responsibilities:

​

• Preparing the daily P&L for the trading desk you support.

• Here you would need to assess the nature of revenue generated (e.g. market moves, risk held).

• Performing a reconciliation between the trading desk’s systems and the system you see (the sub-ledger).

• Reconciling between the sub ledger and the bank’s general ledger.

• Producing and analysing the P&L – providing commentary for senior stakeholders.

• Examining the trading activity of the desk to assess the portfolio’s valuation.

• Using this review to highlight any unusual activity or material movements to the senior management team.

• Producing price verifications on a monthly basis – here you would challenge traders’ inputs into the pricing models and also assessing the less observable inputs.

• Communicate and collaborate well with the front office traders and management teams.

• Examining and assessing the risk in the trading positions (market risk, compliance risk, reputational risk, etc.).

• Learning and gaining great knowledge of the bank’s products and also of what is happening on the markets.

• Appreciating the effect of Regulatory Capital requirements and the effect these have on trading activities and potential new business.

• Compiling with the Bank’s financial reporting requirements.

• Liaising with other team’s in a collaborative and problem-solving capacity.

• To keep up to date with developments elsewhere in the bank and how this effects trading.  

• Becoming a key contact at the bank as you would develop a great understanding of the bank’s business, products and market leading technology.

• Liaising with various departments to ensure you work effectively and efficiently – including Operations, Technology, Strats, Traders, Legal Entity Controllers Regulatory Controllers, Market Risk Controllers, Credit Risk Controllers, Accounting Policy, Tax, Compliance, Legal, etc.).

 

Experience:

​

• Qualified Accountant – ACA or another relevant qualification e.g. CFA.
